Room for Music is dedicated to providing high quality music tuition for beginner and intermediate musicians in a range of diciplines including guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboards, vocals, digital audio & music tech. For complete beginners we even provide all the equipment you need to get started and try your hand at a various instruments and music tech disciplines without having to commit to buying your own kit.

Our ethos at Room for Music is to give musicians the opportunity to meet, create and perform with like minded individuals, with the ultimate goal to play a live gig with a real live audience. Why sit at home when you could become part of a real band, playing great songs and even writing and performing your own material?!

We have hand picked a team of talented professional musicians and tutors who help to lead our unique workshops, birthday parties and corporate / team building events. Everyone involved is fully insured and CRB checked.

Mike HeapsRoom for Music is owned and run by musician Mike Heaps. With over twenty years of experience playing live in orchestras, bands and as a solo performer, Mike began playing music as a young child, learning the violin and Hammond organ before graduating to guitar, drums and bass, playing in several bands around Liverpool and Sheffield in the 90s.

A qualified Music Educator (Access to Music / RockSchool / MEP / CTTLS), he created Room for Music to provide an alternative approach to traditional one-to-one instrument tuition, with the emphasis on learning to play as part of a band from the outset to boost creativity and confidence.

Martin WhitemanMartin Whiteman is a versatile musician, producer and recording engineer keen to pass on the knowledge he has gained from nearly two decades in the music industry.

As a performer he has toured the world playing keyboards with various bands and DJs such as Lo Fidelity Allstars and Caged Baby. As a recording engineer Martin has made numerous recordings for major record labels including Sony, Universal Music, Parlophone, Sub Pop and has worked in a wide range of styles for artists such as Tom Jones, Xecutioners, Matt & Kim, Jamie Lidell, The Charlatans and many more.

In addition to this Martin is an accomplished song writer and arranger having been signed to Warner Chappell for many years and is a classically trained violinist. Martin has a broad experience of teaching at a variety of levels having given keyboard and violin lessons and also training intern studio engineers and music technology students in their final degree year.

Ross ClarkRoss Clark had his first guitar lesson aged 7 and then started playing bass, piano and drums when he reached secondary school.

Currently front man and vocalist of well respected local band my first radio, Ross has many years experience performing live and gigging both on the local circuit and across the UK. In addition he has developed excellent recording and production skills on a number of side projects and is an accomplished song writer.
